The riverside path is now open: we have finished tree-felling.
However, still some stacks of wood to remove- on the S. Drive, just by the Fairy Lochan: look out for vehicles, dont climb on stacks, stay safe!

PATH DIVERSION

The riverside path, from Braeloine Centre downstream, is closed temporarily, because of tree felling.
You can still use most of this path, following the signs out from Braeloine, but then diverting away from the riverbank on the return section.
A map is on display at Braeloine showing the precise line of diversion, and there are signs on the route itself.
It will probably be about a week, from today, 25th January, to complete the work

DIGITISING THE PAST

We have recently taken delivery of an automatic sheet feed scanner, and a slide scanner. This will let us digitise typescript historical material, and old slides and photographs.
This will let folk have access to the material, whilst protecting the originals.
Funding for the equipment came from Cairngorms LEADER. The project is being managed by Glen Tanar Ranger Service. We welcome volunteer help with the digitising process.

On Sunday 19th December, 10-3, children's games and activities. Also making bird feeders and nest boxes.
You can drop in anytime, no booking needed.
There is no charge: donations to the Trust welcome.

Winter welcomes you to Glen Tanar.







Walking or ski-ing, the place is perfect.

WEATHER CONDITIONS

As elsewhere, v. cold with considerable snow cover.
Road is passable: but narrow, and slippy.
Vis Centre is accessible, and we are working.
X-country ski-ing possible throughout. A track has been ploughed from the Visitor Centre, down South Drive, and up to old forest. Elsewhere, may be a bit of a plod.
If you are visiting, take care driving- snow tyres may help- an dpark off road so we can keep the road clear/cattle fed/etc.
If you are going for a walk, you can get a route card from the Centre, fill it in and leave it in the postbox on Braeloine Bridge. Then, if we find your car at night, we will have a clue.
Otherwise, wrap up well, spare clothing/food/torch/whistle.
